HOW IT ALL BEGAN
In my family there are a few words in Ladino that became our family slang. Anytime someone uses one of these words, it makes us smile. It is our secret language. The meaning of the word "Tabureta" is stool. To me, it sounds like a playful invitation for a game.

Ever since I was little, I loved exploring how the things around me could be transformed into something else by a creation that is all mine. Naturally, I chose to study Industrial Design. I tested and learned new skills & materials, always looking for new combinations. The colorful fabrics and their ability to make a big change with relatively simple methods, made me fall in love with upholstery. I started renovating old furniture, but something was still missing. I wanted to take part in ALL the production steps, from beginning to end. This how "Tabureta" was born.
THE STUDIO
Tabureta is a design & manufacturing studio for "no strings attached" furniture. Furniture that can be moved around the house and change position according to your mood or the design of your room. Small furniture that makes all the difference.

In Tabureta, as in my personal life, I believe that you don't need to break walls in order to make big changes. You can create a sense of newness by simply adding small surprises that bring a pop of color to the base of your home.

Every piece of furniture in Tabureta is handmade, therefore each has its own unique look. The furniture is made from high quality birch plywood, painted with a clear lacquer that keeps the natural light color of the wood. The gentle texture of the wood is incorporated with the bold patterns of the African prints, giving the room a sense of warmth and coziness.
